One Friday 2007 - Biodiversity

INDX is pleased to announce One Friday 2007, which will be held on 23 February 2007 at the Conway Hall, Holborn, Central London. The theme for this year's event is “biodiversity” and the aim of the organisers is to showcase a range of designers and disciplines that reflect the diversity of work taking place in the field of graphic design today.

As part of the launch for this event discounted rate places are available: students GBP:23.50 (GBP:20.00 + VAT) and professionals GBP: 41.12 (GBP:35.00 + VAT). Group booking discounts are available for both categories of delegate - see the One Friday web site for details. Discounted rates will increase after 31 December 2006.

Speakers confirmed for One Friday are Rich Roat (House Industries, USA), René Knip (Atelier René Knip, Netherlands) and Daniel Eatock (Eatock Ltd, UK). Clive Bruton of INDX, who is heading the organisation of the event, said of the speakers "I've seen Rich and René speak at other events, and each time they've inspired me to think more critically about my own work - with Daniel you only need to take a look through his web site and portfolio to get an idea that he is someone that is also going to challenge the way other designers think".

At least three further speakers will be announced for the event over the next few weeks.

Last year's event “Design and Business” attracted around 360 people to the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square. Delegates came from all over the UK, with a few travelling from other parts of Europe. Given the feedback INDX has received about the event so far we expect to exceed this number at the new venue - reservations for 2007 have already exceded the sales for 2006 at this time last year.

The main reason for switching the venue for 2007 is that the Conway Hall offers more space, outside the auditorium. This has allowed INDX to invite sponsors to the event who will have stands in the venue, and to look at other ways of promoting design within the programme. A secondary hall is available to the organisers for such purposes.

The gold sponsor for the event is FontShop International, INDX is currently negotiating with other interested parties for a second gold sponsor slot, and the ancilliary sponsors who will have a presence at the event. FontWorks UK has already agreed to be a secondary sponsor of the event.
